Biography

34.jpg

I was born and raised in West Haven, seven minutes from where I live now in Roy. I am the oldest of six children. I attended Fremont High School, where I played soccer and was in the school musical. After a year at Weber State, I attended Iowa Lakes on soccer and music scholarships before returning to Weber to finish my degree.

I have been married to Matt Jackson for 11 years. He earned his Master of Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Utah and now works as a PA at Midtown Community Health Center. Professionally, I am a state-certified American Sign Language interpreter and I work a flexible schedule interpreting as an independent contractor at two agencies. I also own a small side business as a professional writing coach.

As I raise my three children in Roy near Emma Russell Park, I always look for ways to support my community. I’ve volunteered with the PTA and my children's preschool program, coached soccer teams, donated time on writing projects for West Haven City and Weber County, and donated time and professional services with The Major Brent Taylor Foundation. I have also volunteered time in various leadership positions, including on the Weber County RAMP Board, OWCAP's Head Start Policy Council, and as a student senator at Weber State.

In my free time, I enjoy hobbies such as sports, writing music, playing the piano, singing, and swing dancing. I also enjoy mountain biking, rock climbing, backpacking, and white water kayaking. I love to cook. I love to try new things; horseback riding and archery are on my list of recent dabblings. I have always loved musical theater and writing anything from essays to poetry.
