Roy City Council
Economic Development

Residential growth is inevitable, especially in the state of Utah. Balancing the housing component with business opportunities is crucial. As companies look at Weber County for expansion and location, Roy City officials must be prepared to market our city and help business owners understand which areas fit their business models. Business conducted in Roy is a crucial piece of the revenue for our budget.

City officials play a role in enticing businesses to come into Roy by proactively approaching them and letting them know that Roy residents are interested in welcoming them. In preparation, Roy must ensure that we have the population in place, a population that shops and does business locally. Roy City must zone appropriately for residential and commercial so businesses can see that the city has planned for their business and their consumer base. City officials also have a responsibility to make sure businesses can set up in Roy quickly. We must do what we can to expedite that process so businesses don't feel stuck and take their business elsewhere.
Another role of government is to ensure that the necessary infrastructure precedes the commerce. I commit to work with state officials and agencies to continue to make Roy a priority in northern Utah.
