Public Engagement in Planning and Development

I believe in strength through collaboration--both among elected officials and with residents. Elected representatives are also residents, and I seek the input of other residents around Roy in the planning and development process.

Improvements and development are planned long before the construction cones appear. This planning process has several checkpoints along the way; these checkpoints, in the form of public hearings and such, are opportunities for public input on projects and change. Good councilmembers will recognize the value of many voices raising considerations about projects and use them to act in the best interest of the residents.

Sadly, turnout to these checkpoints can leave good council members wishing they had more input. I want to find ways to engage the public in working closely with those residents we elect to represent us all. I believe this includes offering current information in the amounts and avenues people want it. Social media, the city website, and the utility bill insert are examples of ways that people access information, and they should continue to be used. More resident surveys may help us understand what services Roy residents are still interested in funding.

I will continue to update my online information with my own public service and the discussions we have in City Council meetings to keep residents informed.
