Public Service

During my political interest, I have learned that one mark of a good leader is someone who leads and serves expecting nothing in return. I learned from my mother to give generously of my time and talents. Part of my service has been spent in organized efforts. After attending The Major Brent Taylor Foundation's The 9/11 Project in 2021, I wanted the Deaf community to be able to access this amazing event, as well. Upon identifying this need, I reached out and asked if I could volunteer by coordinating ASL interpretation. Since then, I have coordinated interpretation and donated pro bono interpreting hours for The Major Brent Taylor Foundation's The 9/11 Project. I assisted captioning the project's videos as part of my efforts to help increase their accessibility for all. I have also donated skill and hours working on writing projects for West Haven City, such as event brochures, historical markers, and letters. I still volunteer with my local PTA and at church.

Much of my volunteerism has been on the side. I have donated hundreds of hours helping graduate school applicants write admission essays, a knack I later turned into a side-business. With a passion for making videos, I have created wedding videos, campaign videos, family videos, and other projects as gifts. I have composed dozens of songs for family or friends who needed something new to perform. (My latest project was composing and recording a game show theme for Weber County.) I have volunteered every season as a youth soccer coach since my children started playing five years ago. I also volunteer often in my children's classrooms.
